Presidential Cake Wrecks

President’s Day.

A day for reflection and honoring those who have boldly served our country….. A day for tributes…. And a day for…

… Cake Wrecks!

One of my all time favorite blogs is http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com.

Whenever I am in need of a good, hard, bellyaching laugh, I put my trust in Jen at Cake Wrecks and she never disappoints!

Jen started her blog in May of 2008 and my husband fortunately discovered it soon after. Her idea is simple enough: A blog dedicated to professionally decorated cakes that, you could say… didn’t turn out how the client expected. The photos are hysterical and Jen’s commentary is well worth the read as she makes me laugh even harder.

Her post on President’s Day was spot on, as usual! She followed some truly amazing presidential cake wrecks along with a non-wreck. Here is a preview of the wrecks:

Apparently, President Regan’s nose is 3-D. I can see how that happened, though. The decorator thought that the nose appeared to be a little flat and thought, “Wow, that would look so much better mounded out of frosting.” Wow indeed. So now, it boldly protrudes from Regan’s face in a waxy, sweet, confectionery likeness. Try to not focus on that for the rest of the day!

The non-wreck was an ambitions cupcake mural which Jen documented:

“For those of you who missed out, about 1,800 of us had fun watching Zilly Rosen and her team assemble a 5,900 cupcake mosaic of Presidents Obama and Lincoln at the Smithsonian in DC today (they had a live webcam set up). It was even cooler than it sounds, believe it or not….”

Nice job Zilly and team! Congratulations on your cupcake feat!

Show your love and show some support for Jen at Cake Wrecks! And make certain that your bladder is empty! Don’t say that I didn’t warn you!
